Procedural Reminders

For those of you who have been in this league for awhile, much of this may be “old news.” For newcomers, hopefully the information below will help make your assimilation into the league as smooth as possible.

• League Meetings: Attending monthly league meetings is the primary way to learn about what is going on in the league. League meetings also provide a great way for you to identify opportunities to be more involved in supporting the league. Please do not assume that anything you need to know will be sent to you directly. League meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month, 7:30pm at Creekside Park in Cupertino.

• Rain Days: Please remember to call the hotline if it is raining (or has been raining) in order to make sure the fields are still open:
  • Cupertino hotline number is 408-777-3566.
  • Saratoga hotline number is 408-868-1207.

• Team Registration Contact: Each team must have a registration contact. Please make sure the league registrar has the name and email address of this person. This is the person on your team who will receive any email updates regarding registration issues, etc.

• Contacting the Registrar (Laura Watkins): Please use email LLWatkins@comcast.net. I check email regularly and respond reasonably quickly. Phone calls and ringing the doorbell should be reserved for true emergencies or for league issues (vs team issues). If it is a true emergency or league business, then you are welcome to call. I will notify your team contact via email when your paperwork is ready.

• Street Address & Directions: 18700 Montewood Drive, Saratoga, CA 95070 — house is off of Quito Road, near Hwy 9. Various ways to get to Montewood:

  • Quito Road toward Hwy 9. Montewood is first street on right, past the 2^nd Sobey Road. Turn right on Montewood. Go to top of hill (not end of street). Mailbox (18700) is on left. Turn into driveway next to mailbox, and follow driveway straight down hill. House is on a flag lot, so can't see house from street.

  • Hwy 85 to Hwy 17 towards Santa Cruz. Hwy 9 exit towards Saratoga. Right on Quito. Left on Montewood (2^nd street). Go to top of hill (not end of street). Mailbox (18700) is on left. Turn into driveway next to mailbox, and follow driveway straight down hill. House is on a flag lot, so can't see house from street.

  • Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road towards Saratoga village. Continue on Hwy 9. Turn left on Austin (little street across from La Hacienda). First left onto Quito. First left onto Montewood. Go to top of hill (not end of street). Mailbox (18700) is on left. Turn into driveway next to mailbox, and follow driveway straight down hill. House is on a flag lot, so can't see house from street.

  • Fruitvale to Hwy 9. Left on Hwy 9. Turn left on Austin (little street across from La Hacienda). First left onto Quito. First left onto Montewood. Go to top of hill (not end of street). Mailbox (18700) is on left. Turn into driveway next to mailbox, and follow driveway straight down hill. House is on a flag lot, so can't see house from street.

• DYSL Box: I have two boxes on my front porch. The smaller one is for DYSL paperwork. Please make sure you put your paperwork in this box, in the Drop-Off drawer.

• Paperwork: Always submit paperwork unfolded, not stapled, not taped, not glued. Use paperclips to hold things together. Use full size envelopes as required. Do not glue or tape envelopes shut as they will need to be opened and closed multiple times. There is almost always a supply of free large envelopes in the DYSL Forms drawer. Take as many as you need. Let me know if I need to restock.

• Request for Forms: I do not leave blank forms in the box, as every time I do this, they disappear within a couple days, and the league quickly runs out of forms. So... if you need forms, email me your request. I will put the forms in the Forms drawer of the DYSL box with your name on them. Please, only take forms left for you. Note that there are days that I am not on email at all during the daytime so please plan ahead if you need forms.
